This images show the hands and feet of a patient with Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Hands - swelling of the proximal interphalangeal(PIP) joints(Bouchard nodes) associated with bilateral and symmetric swelling of the Metacarpal phalangeal(MCP) joints. The distal interphalangeal(DIP) joints are spared. This sign is very useful in discriminating Rheumatoid Artthritis from osteoarthritis and psoriatic arthritis.
Feet - The Metatarsal phalageal(MTP) joints are involved are also involved which is also a commom feature.
