About 15 percent of patients surviving an acute infarction develop a left ventricular aneurysm. The infarcted zone may evaginated and heal with fibrous connective tissue, forming a "fifth chamber" attached to the left ventricle.
In the case presented here there is a large new chamber that is bigger than the others. Although a lot of participants make the correct diagnosis the great majority could not see the aneurysm.
So, we decided to indicate in the MRI scan with white arrows the neck of the aneurysm and with an * the aneurysm
